Harbours and Marinas
Harbours and Marinas
Rantasalmi is part of the vast Saimaa waterway, where boating and harbour services are an important part of both everyday life and tourism. The municipality offers access to guest harbours, marinas and excursion harbours serving boaters, paddlers and visitors travelling by water. Through the Ketvele Canal, boaters have a direct waterway connection from Lake Saimaa to Rantasalmi’s village centre harbour.
Town Centre Guest Harbour
The Rantasalmi town centre harbour offers services for visiting boaters in the heart of the village, within walking distance of shops and other services. The guest harbour has approximately 25 berths for visiting boats and provides electricity, waste collection, parking, and shower and toilet facilities in the nearby Geohouse building. Fuel services are available close to the harbour.
Its central location makes the harbour a convenient stop for travellers exploring the Saimaa region by boat.
Mustalahti Marina
Mustalahti municipal harbour, located about 3.5 kilometres from the village centre, provides additional mooring services and boating facilities. The harbour offers berths, fresh water, septic tank service and waste disposal for recreational boaters.
Mustalahti also serves as a practical access point to lake routes and nearby recreational waters.
Harbours and Services in Linnansaari National Park
Rantasalmi also provides access to the boating routes and excursion harbours of Linnansaari National Park, one of the gems of the Saimaa lake district. The national park includes around 20 excursion harbours and landing places for boaters and paddlers, with campfire sites and basic excursion facilities.
At Sammakkoniemi on Linnansaari Island, visitors can find guest piers, excursion services and seasonal visitor facilities. These harbours support day trips, overnight boating and island exploration.
Boating, Paddling and Water Routes
Rantasalmi’s harbours are connected to broader boating and paddling routes across Lake Saimaa. In addition to marinas, the area offers opportunities for canoeing, excursion boating, guest moorings and access to nature destinations by water.
Whether arriving by sailboat, motorboat, canoe or kayak, the waterways are part of how people experience Rantasalmi.
Harbour Services and Lake Life
Harbours in Rantasalmi are more than technical infrastructure — they are part of local summer life, recreation and tourism. They connect village services, boating culture and the surrounding lake nature in a way that is characteristic of the Saimaa region.
